  • Applications for the next #HalaalGoodsMarket in Jozi are open!

Do you have a passion for artisan food and design products? The desire to produce something out of passion and perseverance? Have a unique idea, product, fashion item, design product, menu? Do you know what it’s like to do it for the LOVE of it and have turned that passion into a business? We want YOU!

Please go to our website www. HalaalGoodsMarket .co.za to access the application form.
Please remember that the closing date is strictly 3 January 2020.
Important points to remember:
1. Please read the Important Information tab on the website THOROUGHLY.
2. The market is a curated market, therefore vendors are limited and all applications go through a selection process. The curation is done via an ANONYMOUS selection committee and not by Fehmz alone.
3. Successful submission of an application does not guarantee successful participation in the next HGM.
4. The #HGMfamily of vendors are there to help each other, uplift each other, support each other and those are the kind of vendors that make HGM successful.
5. All consumable products have to be halaal, if the business is not muslim owned, a certificate for halaal will be required.
6. If you’ve got that passion and drive, this is the market for you!
7. If you need an idea of the size of a stall please see images of the previous markets, a single stall is one table length only.
8. Please do NOT apply if you are unable to participate on the dates advertised for the next market. 29 Feb - 1 Mar 2020

  • This HalaalGoodsMarket we tried something new, we wanted to do our best to improve and to take in your suggestions as much as we can, so we tested out an expansion.
Change takes getting used to especially when splitting the market and moving the entrance, it takes tolerance when sharing a passage with an establishment that we jokingly referred to as “the haraamgoodsmarket on the other side of the fence” but we learnt that people are amazing, that our patrons don’t see colour or religion or culture, they see opportunities for inclusion, for learning, for teaching and for being an example for others to see. We learnt that we can all sit together and cheer for those tries and conversions when our team is playing, that we can all eat together when there’s a spot free on the benches, that we can all laugh together when the comedian makes a joke and that we can all stand together when someone needs help.
We are not perfect, changing things comes with many new lessons, many things we realise that can be improved on but it also shows that your support has helped us to grow, that your constructive suggestions have been listened to, that we are trying harder every single time.

Thank you, Jazakallah, Shukran, Ngiyabonga, Dankie for coming, for taking a break from studying, for driving up from far away, for flying up from even further away, for supporting every single vendor at the market.
May you be rewarded in barakah and rizq many times more than you have spent on the small businesses at the market. We are very grateful for your support.

The last halaalgoodsmarket of 2019 was memorable and forged into a new direction!
70% of our vendors are woman-owned or founded businesses.
Over 1000 cups of tea and coffee were served.
A few hundred donuts, cakes, marshmallows, swissrolls, cheesecakes and burfee were sold.
Dozens and dozens of rolls and bagels were used.
Over 100 litres of fresh cream were whipped
And many “bakers dozens” of samoosas were fried!
See you in 2020 with even more improvements and some exciting new offerings ♥️ #halaalgoodsmarket 📸: @ayeshamayet
